Description

Alberto Giacometti is one of the most influential modern artists. Giacometti, from the perspective of surrealism and cubism, created his own unique aesthetic through careful observation, characterized by distinctive sculptures and expressive portraits. Take a look at the man walking bronze sculpture. A tall and thin man is walking, it is a rare masterpiece. It will be a great decoration whatever where you put it. You will be shocked at his artistic beauty…

Between 1936 and 1940, Giacometti focused his sculptures on human heads, focusing on the gaze of a sitting position. He preferred models closely associated with his sister and the artist Isabel Hawthorne and at a later stage, his statue of Isabel was elongated. She has slender limbs. Obsessed with creating his imagined sculptures through his unique perspective on reality, he often sculpted them until they were as thin as nails, reduced to the size of a pack of cigarettes, much to his surprise. A friend of his once said that if Giacometti decided to shape you, “he would make your head look like a blade”. Just like the man walking bronze sculpture.

During World War II, Giacometti took refuge in Switzerland. It was there in 1946 that he met Red Cross secretary Annette Amm. They married in 1949 and after his marriage, his little sculptures got bigger, but the bigger they got, the thinner they got. For the rest of Giacometti’s life, Annette was his main female model and his painting went through a similar process. Due to constant rework, these numbers appear isolated and severely attenuated. He often re-examines his subjects: one of his favorite models is his younger brother Diego. The man walking bronze sculpture is one of his masterpieces.
