Description

Are you also interested in Greek mythology? Take a look at our Apollo marble sculpture. The surface of this standing statue is very smooth. Apollo’s face shows a neutral expression. He took a few steps forward on his right leg and threw his cloak back over his left shoulder, exposing his naked body. He looked to the left and stretched out his left arm to support his cloak. His thick curly hair was tied on top of his head by a ribbon symbolizing god and the king. Around his torso, he wore a quiver for holding arrows. He was still wearing sandals. On the left, the statue is supported by a tree trunk, and you can see a snake carved on the left side of the tree.

The Apollo marble sculpture known as the Apollo Belvedere was once the most famous statue in Rome. The statue is thought to be a Roman copy (2nd century CE) of a bronze original by the Greek sculptor Leochares (4th century BCE). The god, Apollo, moves forward majestically and seems to have just released an arrow from the bow which he originally carried in his left hand. The work has been dated to mid-way through the 2nd century A.D. and is considered to be a copy of an original bronze statue of 330-320 B.C. by Leochares, one of the artists who worked on the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus.

For a long time, Apollo marble sculpture was regarded as an ideal portrayal of male beauty. It has been replicated many times and has provided inspiration for many artists. For example, artists such as Michelangelo and Dürer have used it as an inspiration for their sketches and sculptures. It is not only a good piece of ornamental art but also will enhance your artistic taste and brighten up your home.
